I have just completed an 11 performance run of our annual Christmas pantomime. This was a big adventure for me as I had decided to use the Lanbox LCX to control the WHOLE show (72 dimmers, 14 scrollers and 4 Martin Pro 518s). Previously I have only used the Lanbox to control moving fixtures. I will be preparing a write up, so anyone who's interested can see how things were set up and how the show was created in the Lanbox. I'm not for one minute suggesting my techniques are either the best way or the only way to run a show - but it will, hopefully, give people some ideas of things that can be tried. In summary: it was a GREAT experience. It was a complete success and I do not expect to be using a standard theatre lighting desk for any of my future shows. I'm already preparing my next show, which is a mega production of the musical Mack and Mabel. This will use moving head fixtures (Vari*Lite and Martin) in addition to the normal dimmers and scrollers. Lighting control? My Lanbox, of course!!
