Set the used DMX range of the Colortran, say 1-50. 2. Set light channels to which it should be mapped, say also 1-50 (it's already set by default). 3. Set the destination layer, use the top layer (e.g. A). On the stage place single dimmer fixtures on the channels which should be used from the Colortran. Now make a group of these fixtures, and select this group. On the control panel select the top layer (A) and type v enter. This last action activates all channels of a group, but you can also selective enable a channel by selecting the DMX field and hit return. (an active channel has black DMX values, while grey is inactive. Only active channels are overwritten by the Colortran). You will notice that from now on you can't change the DMX values of the activated channels in the top layer anymore, as they are overwritten by the Colortran. Note: If you do a "Save LanBox Date" after this initial setup, it will be restored after power-up. So in short: 1. Map the used DMX-in channels into LCX light channels of a destination (top) layer. 2. Activate those channels in the destination layer, which should be controlled by the external desk.
