But when you send just NoteOns with running status, you can send no more then about 160 bytes per 50mS, as that's about the maximum MIDI data rate. Via USB or Ethernet (LCX) you can set about 300 light channels in one command, as each set-channel takes 6 bytes. This has to to with the fact that you need a 16 bit channel address and all data is transferred as hex data. We know this can be improved (2..3 bytes per channel), but on the other hand normally you don't set such amount of channels for real-time (20 updates/sec) usage. Fokko
