SubjectRe: max users and effective speedlimiting of info sent to midi and lights.

I've been building patches to control lights in Max and have a lot of
problems and questions, with no examples to study. Are there any other
users on this list that are trying to use lights in a more musical way,
rather than theatrical that have made or are making instruments in max?
One problem i am having is that too much information is being sent out
of the machine. If I use speedlim, then I often lose some output pairs,
which is usually fine, except for when they are "note offs". How can I
limit the data, without losing the important things?
I don't know exactly what your patch looks like. But, as a general suggestion, I would recommend getting rid of unnecessary data earlier in your calculating process. If you still have the problem you describe, you may need to use a table to record what lamps are on and check from the table before sending out the notes off. In that case, you would be using speedlim only for the note-ons and the table check for the note-offs.
