Dropped USB connection

Mac running 10.7.3 with LC Edit and LCX

During a performance last night we lost the USB connection to the Lanbox and couldn't re-establsh it with Window>Reconnect Interfaces. We tried quitting and re-starting LC Edit but still couldn't re-conncet. Happily there was a network cable sitting around and we were eventually able to use that to get up and running over TCP/IP. However the performance had resumed under house lights so I wasn't happy.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? All I can think is that the USB lead has a fault but it had been fine for a week now and hasn't been twisted or kinked.

Hello,

we have three LANBOX LCX bought in 2004.
We are actually working with LED strip, the dimming is bad in comparison with an ENTECC Pro.
Is it a firmware problem? Is there an update we have to do?

Thank you

Thomas for Groupe LAPS

3D Visualisation

Are there any software supporting the Lanbox LCX with 3D visualization.
I need to program a lot of lightshows, but don't always have the opportunity to set up the rig with the actual fixtures.

I control it via midi, which I program in Cubase. Then it ends up as midifiles which sends commands to the Lanbox.

Any suggestions for previewing this on a computerscreen instead of the real thing?

TIA
Ricky

Speed of midi-commands?

I'm programming the Lanbox for my bands lightshow using midifiles, so that everything will match the music.

In the beginning of each song/midifile I send a lot of codes to the Lanbox, to reset everything, like fade-settings, movement of moving heads and so on.
That way I'm sure that there's no "left overs" from the previous song which can disturb the codes!

Sometimes the lamps doesn't react the way I intended. Restarting the song will solve it (sometimes).
I think it's beacause the codes comes too fast to the Lanbox!
I send a midicode on every 64th note, and in songs with BPMs over a certain value I've got problems.

I don't know if the limit is in the Lanbox, or the Midispecs, or the fixtures.

How fast can I send commands to the Lanbox via midi (like cc's, sysex and note ons) and still be sure everything works?
Can anybody give some numbers in milliseconds. Then I can calculate the notevalues and BPM I have to use.

TIA

Ricky

Isadora actor LanboxSubmaster

Hello all,

in the Isadora Forum I posted a new actor. It provides a tool to fade cuesteps over TCPIP. There is an example included, which lets you fade via a Korg MIDI fader board or use the Isadora control faders.

For details please visit the Isadora forum

Cheers, gunther

Reading channel information via TCP/IP

Hello All,

Mark Coniglio, creator of Isadora here. I wanted to know if there is any TCP/IP command that will retrieve more than 256 channels of data when reading channel value from the LCX.

The documentation for the command I'm using looks like this:

* CD ee ffff nn #

ee = Engine number (1..8)

255=DMX Output Buffer
254=Mix Buffer
253=External Input
252=DMX Input Buffer

ffff = First Channel number to be returned (high byte First)
nn = Number of channels to be returned

Given that the last parameter is only one byte, it would seem that 256 would be the limit. But I have an Isadora user who would like to read all 512 channels at the same time.

Right now, one must do a sort of "round robin" -- asking for channels 1-256 first, then 257-512, then 1-256, etc. Not very convenient and it also means there is a slight delay between the first message and the second, which means the values are not in perfect sync.

Is there any way to receive all 512 channels with one command?

Best Wishes,
Mark

Programming a show with external Inputs

Hello,
I can not figure out how to solve the following programming challenge:
I use the Lanbox to control a light show in a public space. I need to apply a function where a light sensor (a toggle) starts a light show. the light sensor is "on" when it is dark. at a certain time a timer (a button) should switch the installation off. at all times it should be possible to switch to two different static light situtions with two button switches. This would all be easy if I could manage to determine the change of state of the light sensor's toggle. otherwise the sensor switches the installtion on all night. (but it should stop at a certain time. Is that somehow clear? Is this the rigt place for a question like this?

Thanks. John.
